Everyone in our family loves Boba or Bubble tea drinks. We almost always do a weekly run to our favorite bubble tea place in town. You usually chose between milk tea and fruit tea variety, but there are also specialty drinks like slush and smoothies. I prefer the the slush kind that is why I thought boba would really go well in milkshake.

First, you have to prepare or make your bubbles, you can buy them in packs at most Asian stores. Just cook according to package directions and place in a brown sugar syrup mixture when done. You make the syrup by placing one part brown sugar to one part water in a thick bottommed pot and cook until sugar has melted and mixture has thickened.

For the milkshake, place 4 scoops of ube ice cream (about 2 cups). Make sure that your ice cream is not rock hard and has softened up a bit by letting it sit out in the counter for a few minutes. Then add 1/4 – 1/2 cup cold milk, pour it a little at a time to test how thick you want your shake to be.

Get a tall glass and place about 1-2 tbsp. of boba at the bottom, then pour your milkshake to the brim. Top with whipped cream. You can add sprinkles on top or even some crumbled cookies.
